Riviére Du Rempart district, located in the North-East of the country is reputed for its coastal picturesque view; one example is cap Malheureux, the lovely village with its sandy beach where you can view - coin de Mire. It biggest town is the tourist resort of Grand Bay. Other touristic places are Plaine des Papayes and Antoinette, where the first indentured labourers from India settled. Riviere Du Rempart is also a river which is the outflow of la Nicoliere and flows northeast to reach the Indian Ocean north of Poste de Flacq. The river gives its name to the Rivière du Rempart District.
The village Goodlands is reputed for its shopping centre where you can shop at a very cheap price compared to the shopping centre of the cities.
