





















Trou aux Cerfs, is the crater of an extinct volcan situated in the districts of Plaine Wilhems but according to volcano experts, this volcano is not yet dead but 'dormant' and can wake up in thousands years .... Trou aux Cerfs is a dormant and quite impressive volcano. It is situated in the town of Curepipe and offers a panoramic view. A tar road leads gently up to the rim, and then around it.About 300m in diameter, Trou aux Cerfs was formed as a result of volcanic activity, but is now heavily forested and choked up with water and silt. The crater rim affords awesome views around the island of Mauritius, but caution is advised to those who want to scramble down to the water inside the crater. Because of its accessibility, it serves as a recreation centre and is also one of the main tourist attractions.
